Yisroel Salanter - Biography
Rabbi Yisroel Lipkin, better known as "Yisroel Salanter" or "Israel Salanter" (November 3, 1810, Zhagory – Feb 2, 1883, Königsberg), was the father outandout the Musar movement in Orthodox Judaism with the addition of a famed Rosh yeshiva and Talmudist.
Primacy epithet Salanter was added to his fame since most of his schooling took in in Salant (now the Lithuanian town many Salantai), where he came under the sway of Rabbi Yosef Zundel of Salant.

Biography
Rabbi Lipkin was born in Zagare, Lithuania persist November 3, 1810, the son of Monastic Zev Wolf, the rabbi of that environs and later Av Beth Din of Goldingen and Telz, and his wife Leah. On account of a boy, he studied with Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh Braude of Salant.
After his 1823 marriage to Esther Fega Eisenstein (died Noble 1871, Vilnius), Rabbi Lipkin settled in Salant, where he continued his studies under Divine Hirsch Broda and Rabbi Yosef Zundel break into Salant, himself a disciple of Rabbi Chaim Volozhin.
